The Campus Connect: TCC is an upcoming on-campus marketplace platform enabling UMBC students to buy and sell items, as well as offer their services.
Services: Brand identity, logo design, mascot design, web design, UX, social posts.
Carson Becker- Creative director, branding, social posts, UX/UI With help from: Pooja Patel – web and Mariel Becker – logo.
Logo Design
A golden retriever was chosen for the logo for three reasons:
School Spirit: Ties directly to UMBC’s mascot.
Tone: A dog is a youthful, accessible symbol.
Function: Plays on the pun of users “retrieving” their items.
Color & Fonts
Poppins evokes a bolder feel, juxtaposing Baskerville, which provides a subtle sense of class. Similarly, the primary colors communicate a bright, youthful nature, while the secondary balances the palette with a sense of professionalism.
Carson advocated to embrace the dog theme we had going with a mascot, because data shows that gen-z responds especially well to cute, anthropomorphic animals.
User Personas
After interviewing multiple real student potential customers, we observed two main archetypes: Malik, the “Aspiring Entrepreneur” seeking to legitimize his hustle through verified exposure, and Sophia, the “Resident Buyer” needing a centralized hub to discover trustworthy services without leaving campus. Our landing page and social posts focus on these primary audiences.
Landing Page
The landing page was a product of our research, designed to establish trust and explain the platform quickly and concisely. It appeals to those interested in buying and selling both products and services.
Social Media
Carson developed a 4-week content calendar, complete with 11 unique social posts and a strategy built for our primary target audiences.
Testimonial
As a first-time founder and full-time student with a busy schedule, the professionalism, creativity, speed, communication, and flexibility of Gibbon Studio were exactly what I needed. From executing my vision to offering thoughtful suggestions, working with Carson was an amazing experience. He really saw the value in what I was trying to create and helped bring The Campus Connect brand to life in a way that surpassed my expectations.
